All too often decisions are being made for children in a wide variety of circumstances that they were not fully involved in, did not consent to or don't fully understand. Baker & Joy provide advocates to support and represent children and young people to ensure they are fully engaged and their views respected within the decision making process. Our services are designed to, wherever possible, empower the child to speak up for themselves.

Looked after children and children involved in safeguarding processes have a well established requirement for a friendly, accessible and honest advocate, there is a broad spectrum of vulnerable children and young people with different needs and levels of ability to fully comprehend and engage with the options and choices open to them. The one thing they have in common is the right have some control over their own lives.
Our Child Advocacy services include:
• Children Looked After and Leaving Care • Child Protection • Children Accommodated in Secure Units • Children with Disabilities and Children in Need Baker & Joy have specialist knowledge in working with children with disabilities, learning difficulties and mental health concerns. We employ an issue-based service model to deliver successful evidence-based interventions. We work with the child to create individual advocacy plans that ensure:
• They have the correct information in a format they can understand • They have the opportunity to participate in meetings such as Reviews, Child Protection Conferences & Family Group Conferences • Empower the child/young people to speak for themselves directly or through the advocate Baker & Joy always works to the highest professional levels. We are committed to adhering to The National Standards for the Provision of Children's Advocacy Services. All our advocacy assignments are highly confidential and designed to ensure that the child's wishes and views are paramount.
